Here's a list of questions we're frequently asked from enquiring couples. If you have a query that we haven't captured here let us know and we'd be delighted to provide an answer...
How long does Music Machine play for?
162.5 minutes, no more, no less.
Only kidding, Typical running times for a wedding would be from 9:30pm until 12:15pm for the band, then on until 2am (some hotels stop the music at 1:30am though – don’t forget to check this out with them). You’ll find we’re flexible.
How many breaks?
Just the one twenty minute break while tea/coffee is being served (nobody really likes dancing with a plate of cocktail sausages anyway – we’ve tried!).
Will you learn a special song?
We’ll ask you a couple of months prior to your date if you have a special song in mind for your first dance. If we don’t know it, we’ll learn it for you. Alternatively we’ve got some good suggestions if you have trouble picking one.
When does the DJ come on?
Straight away after we finish, no breaks. Once we’ve gotten you on the floor that’s where your staying!
What about other music during the day?
We can provide you with an experienced contact for music at your church ceremony.
What if things run late?
Even with the best planning the meal or your speeches ran over the time you thought it would be finished by, and the hotel can’t set up the room quickly enough....
We’ve got enough weddings under our belt to know this can happen. We’ll grant you some flexibility on the band DJ changeover time so that you get best value for your hard earned money. We’ve never had a ‘down tools at clocking off time’ attitude – that’s not our style.
How do I get to hear you play live?
Get in touch for an up-to-date listing of forthcoming gigs in your area.
Is there a problem Gate-crashing a wedding to hear you play?
No, is the simplest answer. We always ask the Bride and Groom if it’s okay. Typically they had to gatecrash someone else's wedding in order to hear us play in the first place. We may be asking you the very same question in the future!! Let us know which wedding you’d like to attend so that we can inform the bride and groom in advance.
Is it customary for you to “hold” a date for us?
Tough one this... Once you get in contact we’ll put your details against the date as an enquiry. If someone else is interested in that date (either already or at any time in the future) then we’ll let all parties know straight away. After that it’s the first deposit we receive that secures our services for the date. We’ve found this to be the fairest method of dealing with the issue.
Are there travelling costs?
In Lenister generally no. Get in contact for the other provinces, we’ve been in them all!
What if I’ve got an interval act organised, such as Irish dancers?
No problem, we can cater for them. Once they’ve a CD or MP3 player with industry standard connections we can hook them up to our sound system.
How long to do you need to set up?
Usually 45 mins once the room is available.
What instruments are played in the band?
Music Machine features keyboards, acoustic and electric guitar, drums, bass, male and female vocalists.
The ages of our guests will vary considerably. Can your band play all types of music?
It’s the key to a successful wedding! Everyone needs to have a turn on the floor, that way everyone enjoys the night and the floor is always full.
Can singers/musicians take part?
Again, no problem, Music Machine have had a wide variety of guest performers in the past, both singers and players. However, the amount of people would be limited, as we find that too many people coming up tends to ruin the momentum of the night. We normally bring them up directly after the half time break.
Will you perform at a volume that is comfortable for me and for my guests?
We can play as loudly or quietly as you like. Music Machine have played at many functions of differing size, and can tailor the volume to the size of the room and number of people.
How do we book?
Just call or email us to check our availability and if your date is available we will ask you for a small deposit. We’ll then send you back a booking confirmation letter. Closer to the day we’ll be in contact to discuss any additional details and finalise any special requests you may have. Though if anything crosses your mind don’t hesitate to get in touch.
What about the notorious Music Machine rider?
If we don’t get a cup of tea during the break we’ll pout for a good five minutes at the start of the second set. Seriously.
